When our beloved pets become unwell, it can be very distressing and can be overwhelming. Having someone to talk to can offer comfort in what can be a stressful time.

At BVSC we understand and offer counselling support services upon request for pet owners faced with the difficult and emotional decisions regarding the care of their pet or coming to terms with the trauma of losing their dearly loved family member.

David Foote

Counsellor & Veterinarian – BVSc BMus

David graduated as a veterinarian in 1980 from the University of Queensland and spent 20 years in private practice in Australia and the United Kingdom before deciding to pursue a career in counselling and personal development. From 1999 until 2001 David trained and worked in general and crisis counselling with Lifeline and completed bereavement counselling training at the Bereavement Care Centre in Sydney. David lectured in the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney from 2002 to 2014 and was heavily involved in the design and implementation of the Intern Mentoring Program for final year veterinary science students. He was the program’s inaugural director from 2009 to 2014.
