+ GENERAL MANAGER

Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Centre is a successful business with a strong reputation. It has assembled a world class team that continues to deliver the most advanced level of care for small animals and the team’s agreed common purpose is “We believe Pets are family and deserve the best care”. The long-term General Manager is moving to another role with its joint venture partner, so BVSC are seeking a new General Manager.

Reporting to the BVSC Board of Directors and the Regional Manager, the GM will oversee and be accountable for the financial and operational performance of the entire business. This is a unique leadership role that requires you to provide support and coach the management team, clinicians and team leaders to ensure the efficient and productive running of the operations in a sustainable financial manner.  BVSC has developed a values-driven patient, client and people-centric model that focusses on growing and developing all team members. You will work closely with the Clinical Director to build the excellent, existing relationships with referring veterinarians who are a wonderful referral source.

The key challenges in the role will be:

  • To inspire the team by your engaging approach that sees you embraced because you are selfless and willing to work alongside them. It requires the most exemplary, empathetic people person who is grounded and possesses excellent listening skills;
  • To enhance the collaborative people focussed culture that has been built on respect and trust, along with an underlying genuine love of animals. You must uphold the standards and live and breathe them in your actions and words;
  • To coach and develop the non-clinical employees to reach their maximum potential and assist the clinical leads to develop standards that improve operational efficiency across the teams;
  • To offer valuable input, from both a financial and operational point of view, into the long-term strategy;
  • To establish cohesive working relationships with the diverse range of stakeholders who are all vital to the success of the business.

A degree qualified professional who has senior management experience and has spent significant time in your career in the veterinary industry, or a closely related sector, is required. You are a natural people leader capable of managing and motivating a large team to succeed whilst offering coaching that empowers them to act autonomously within boundaries to grow and develop. A strategically minded thinker who is strong financially and commercially and analyses and interprets data to make informed decisions will thrive here.

If you have a real passion for animals, and have the professional expertise to be a general manager of this growing, world class business – this is the role for you.
