Minimally Invasive Surgery at BVSC
Studies have shown that minimally invasive surgery provides superior recovery times and improved patient comfort compared to traditional surgical approaches in certain situations and for selected patients.
BVSC has state of the art equipment from Storz, a leader in endoscopy and arthroscopy equipment. Arthroscopic joint surgery, used for conditions such as elbow dysplasia and osteochondritis dissecans, allows a highly magnified view and treatment with fine instruments through key-hole incisions.
Cranial cruciate ligament rupture is the most common orthopaedic disease of the stifle joint (knee). Arthroscopy to inspect the stifle joint for cranial cruciate ligament rupture provides faster recovery times compared to traditional surgical approaches. Our surgeons are trained in a variety of techniques and take the time to help owners make informed decisions about which treatment is the best fit for their dog.
Our minimally invasive surgery options extend beyond the orthopaedic arena with potential application for this this technology to intra-abdominal (laparoscopy) and even intrathoracic procedures (thoracoscopy) with more ongoing opportunities for “key hole” surgery being developed. One of our core values is innovation and another is excellence. We like being on the leading edge of contemporary veterinary surgery and striving to be the very best.
Patient care does not stop with minimally invasive surgery or conventional surgery. Our renowned ‘specialty care with compassion’ continues into the follow-up period encompassing the best after-care possible and rehabilitation provided by full integration with our many services including internal medicine, critical care and physiotherapy services. Your pet is in safe hands at BVSC.
