Dr Marvin Kung, originally from Malaysia, is one of our key board-certified surgeons at Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Centre. He is highly trained and adept at all areas of small animal surgery but has a special interest in surgical oncology and spinal surgery. Dr Kung has performed many delicate spinal surgeries and with his meticulous approach to surgery, and specialised individual patient care, has established his high reputation. Like all of our team at BVSC, he delivers specialist care with compassion, has excellent rapport with pet owners and a special affinity towards Dachshunds having grown up around them.

Dr Kung is a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and a registered specialist with the Queensland Veterinary Surgeons Board. His special interests in neurosurgery (especially surgery for spinal disease) and surgical oncology are supported by the facilities, equipment and staff at BVSC. BVSC has invested in the latest diagnostic and surgical equipment and facilities to provide safe, high quality treatment for spinal problems. Advanced and very sophisticated three dimensional imaging facilities, a critical care unit continuously staffed with highly trained veterinary professionals, arthroscopy equipment for minimally invasive surgery, a hyperbaric oxygen chamber supported by a hospital wide oxygen generator and a physiotherapy service are just some of the features at BVSC that make this purpose built hospital the place to refer small animals for general surgery, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, surgical oncology or neurosurgery. With Dr Kung’s dedication and talent in the spinal surgery field, the team at BVSC continue to invest resources and people to support ongoing success and advancement in this important and often very difficult area. Marvin has a special interest in neurosurgery, airway surgery, and surgical oncology.
