Jamie-Leigh achieved a first-class Bachelor of Bioveterinary Science degree at the University for Bristol, England in 2013 prior  obtaining a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland in 2017. She also passed the North American Veterinary Licensing (NAVLE) examination in 2017 allowing her to move to Canada to complete a small animal rotating internship after graduation. On completion of the internship she had a short stint in emergency practice in Glasgow, Scotland before embarking on her European college (ECVS) small animal surgical specialism training through a surgical internship and residency at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She finished her speciality training late 2022 and remained at the University working in the small animal surgery department whilst completing her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2024. Jamie-Leigh has several publications under her belt and after presenting her research at the ECVS Congress in Krakow, Poland in 2023 she was presented with an award for the best surgical poster presentation. Jamie-Leigh loves to travel and has always dreamt of visiting Australia. She’s very excited to join the team at BVSC as a clinician in soft tissue surgery. Jamie-Leigh has a particular interest in reconstructive, airway and gastrointestinal surgery and enjoys playing a role in specialism training. She is currently completing research relating to canine anal gland cancer (AGASACA) and hopes to continue to contribute to the literature.

When she’s not fussing over other peoples pets, she’s out walking with her partner and her puppy named Waffle. She enjoys following women’s football (soccer) having played for 20+ years herself prior to a knee injury but is very excited to take up new hobbies in the Australian sunshine!
